Stretch marks
I thought I was getting away with it. At 37 weeks and 2 days, not one stretch mark then at 37 weeks and 3 days, I notice the underside of my bump was itchy and bumpy. I’m pretty bummed even though it’s inevitable. On the plus side, my tum is now suitably scary for Halloween!

37 Weeks
Ok first off, can I just ask what the deal is with everyone saying that I will get bored on maternity leave?  I realise I have a better-than-average ability to loaf about but seriously, maternity leave pre-baby rocks!  I have watched a lot of TV - which is not a bad thing for me - and I have a to-do list which is fearsome.  I admit that moving house has given me more to do than the average...

Baby Shower!
On Saturday, my dear friend Caz threw me a fantastic baby shower.  Some of my favourite ladies came to my house (since Caroline lives a bit far away to host) to eat yummy cakes, drink our respective body weights in tea and play some fun games.  As the ladies arrived and Caz made the tea, we asked them to make a few baby predictions: date and time of arrival, weight and name suggestions.  We...

36 Weeks
According to Alphamom, Baby Girl is now a whopping 6 pounds which will account for the pretty constant pain in my pelvis.  She also seems to get hiccups a lot lately which is at first really cute and exciting but then a bit uncomfortable and eventually disconcerting - it can’t be that comfortable for her.  I try to not think like this because the thought of being upside, head semi-wedged in...

Name Game
After another long discussion and some decisive whittling, we are down to 3 really good first name contenders which is just fine and can probably stay that way until the arrival of Baby Girl. Middle names are still a bit of a quandry - we have 4 contenders - but I am more relaxed about that.  I think we will just know when the time comes.

Belly button watch - still in (although the edge around it is slightly raised!) - I am going to get away with it??!!! Today is a big milestone: it’s my last day at work before I go on maternity leave.  I have been very busy this week getting the last of my work done so this week’s update will probably be rather short.  I have been to a couple more NCT antenatal classes - there is so...

Packing the hospital bag
or rather, bags, since there is no way it will all fit in one bag!  I have been researching what to pack for the hospital for ages and after trawling the internet and talking to friends who have been through it, I have devised what I think is a pretty comprehensive list.  First, a word of warning - I like to be prepared.  Therefore, this list errs on the side of caution.  And even though it looks...

34 Weeks
My oh my time is really starting to fly now, just when I need it to slow the heck down.  Only 6 weeks to go? That’s crazy.  I suddenly feel totally unprepared for the fact that we are going to have a baby to look after.  On Monday, we attended our first NCT class which was educational and actually quite fun - it was nice to meet other pregnant ladies and their significant others. It also...
